KHE Platform Pedals
By Matt Hulgan

Let me start this review by saying that these pedals are some bad mama-jamas. You need more details? Very well then.

Each pedal weighs .425 pounds. That's well under a pound for the whole set. Yee-haw. Of course it's not the absolute lightest pedal on the
market but then these are far from the most expensive pedals as well. It's a very nice weight-to-price-ratio.

Next I must say that the plastic moulded knurling is sufficient to hold your foot in place but it's not so sharp that it tears up your shins. "What about pivoting?" you may ask. I don't have any "real" pedal pivot tricks up my sleeve but I did try pivoting on them while both tires were on the ground. They were awfully grippy at the edges and made pivoting a but tough. One could argue that KHE should make the outer portion of the pedal smooth for pivoting. On the other hand, how many of us really need that feature?

The surface is flat and wide and had plenty of room for my size 12's. As you can see in the photo there's not funky drilling or anything. It's just a basic, functional platform pedal.

What don't I like about these pedals? Well... it was tough to pry the dorky reflectors out. Does that count as a negative?

Summary:

Overall I love these pedals. I prefer them over the Haro, Primo, S&M, and Odyssey pedals I've ridden in the near past and I'll be sad to see this pair go. I may just have to buy a pair for my own extended use.
